My dad, who is an amazing man, works for a non-profit company titled Youth For Christ. It's an amazing company and I am very inspired and led by all the people he works with to have a better relationship with my Savior.
Every now and then, he'll bring up an article that he wants me to read. I'll procrastinate it unto the point where it is completely overlooked. I instead choose to tell him, alright dad I'll do it later. Soon later becomes tomorrow and tomorrow doesn't become. I've procrastinated too long and I've realized what I've been doing.
He has shown me many different articles and such, ones on modesty and swearing and friendships. I have to admit, I've learned a lot from them.
There's one in specific that he's been asking me to read. It's about a divorce, written by a middle aged Christian man. He's not getting a divorce from his wife, though.
It's from his iPhone 5.
Take a look yourself, read it thouroughly.

I am in absolute agreement with this moving article. One of my New Year's resolutions is to not spend so much time on my phone. I really do, and I don't ait it as much as I should.
It has been controlling me, not me controlling it. "It" is a very conclusive word in this situation-the phone is and it. Not a who, but it has become one. Not in a physical form, but mentally. Think of the characteristics-I spend time with it, communicate with it, shut others out with it. And "it" needs to change.
I also read another interesting article (sorry for the excessive rambling) about a mother and father who threw away their children's electronic devices. I'm not going to go into detail other than the fact that I wholeheartedly agree-read for yourself.
I'm going to not only reflect on that, but make a change.

I wholeheartedly agree about spending less time on i-phones. I KNOW that they can be so addicting and controlling. They've been that way for me. I just need to really set limits for myself and spend my time more wisely.
ReplyDeleteI've been taking a break from Facebook, instagram and a few other things as well for the month of January. I just needed a break, and it's been so so good. I've had more time for reading and spending time with family, and spending time with God. I'm thankful for this break, and I hope to learn more and more this year how to use my time wisely and use my phone in moderation. :)
Blessings!
