Grant it, the "in" color back then (1840-1870's) was black.
Patterned after Queen Victoria, this was the color.Black Silk was very popular. Today- well- I wouldn't wear this dress

The age of beautiful:
Rich, elaborate homes complete with full gardens. Oak trees stood,
tall and straight, for years, shading the green lawn. Longpathways, paved brick, where young men and young ladies could
walk.
As for clothing, complex, handsome, made of the finest material.
For women and ladies, it was silk, point lace, muslin, yard after
yard. Petticoats and very large hoop skirts.I love this time period. Where women were ladies.

Just for one day, maybe live it.
But it's past, and you can only dream.
But that's ok: Because then I wouldn't be here, guest posting on the
beautiful blog of Purply

ReplyDeleteLong live the 1800s with all its ball gowns, hairstyles, classical music, old houses and GORGEOUS handwriting! It's my favourite era, especially the 1800s in England.
