Hello, dear readers!!

My name is Teagan, I regularly blog at Echoes of a Soul, and if you're reading this it's probably because you've fallen a little in love with Kelsey's lovely little nook in blogland, Purply Pink Me. I know I have. What a delightful girl with beautiful things to say. Whether she's hosting "Friday Photo Fun," sharing new blog layout tips or just rambling in general, there's typically a smile on my face after visiting her site. So when I saw she was asking for guest-posters, I went right up and volunteered myself.

After wracking my brain about some topic worthy of sharing with Kelsey's lovely readers, I've finally settled on a topic:
*insert drumroll here*

Picnics!

Because if there's one thing I love about summertime, it's eating outside.
I think it should be done often & frequently.
In fact, if I could, I'd take each and every one of you with me on a picnic right this very second.
But since I can't, I'll share with you some vital tips to making your picnic a successful one.

1.  The Setting
Pick a place!
Any place!
I personally like something pretty,
but the people you bring with you can serve
as your inspiring background.
More than anything - be prepared for whatever setting you pick.
Will there be water? Bring your suit!
Will there be bugs? Bugspray!!
Need shade? Umbrellas work just fine.
(you can even bring a coffee can full of rocks
to stick your umbrella-handles into
for no-hands shade.)

2.  The Blanket
Here's another one where the specifics are totally up to you.
Most important is that you BRING ONE.
Grass makes your legs itchy. :/
And they'll always serve as a convenient napkin when your fingers get sticky.
So don't forget to bring one that you're not afraid of getting dirty.
Don't bring the quilt your grandma made when she was a girl.
Do bring the huge chunk of scrap-fabric you found for three bucks at the local thrift store.

3.  The Food
Bring what you like, but you'll have the most fun
if the food is simple
and already prepared before you picnic.
Pulling ham & cheese sandwiches out and munching directly
is so much more enjoyable
than watching the ants crawl over everything as you put together your sandwich.
Plus when things are already prepared, you'll get to leave all the
extra utensils at home.
Also - I say eat healthy, fresh things.
You'll avoid the after-meal sleepyness
so you'll have more energy to play. :)

4.  Don't be afraid to be Unconventional!
In the end, picnic however you want to!
I recently enjoyed a meal at a friend's house in her back yard.
It was super-easy to carry out dishes, a table & chairs.
We could be a little more complex with our food choices.
And we could escape back inside to the air-conditioning whenever we needed to. ;)
Any food consumption outdoors is a picnic in my book.
So picnic away!

So - What are you favorite picnic foods? Where to do you like to spread your blanket? What's the best after-picnic activity you've ever participated in? Share your stories - I'm always looking for new ways to picnic!!

Thanks for reading, and thanks to Kelsey for the opportunity to share her space!
