books
July 26, 2011a book is something to snuggle down with on a rainy day, listening to the rain patter on your window, to get lost in the world of fantasy, the 1800's, or a murder at a dinner table.
before i go to be, i reach for my book and snuggle down in my covers, my nose dug deep into the pages. i lose track of the time, my head only keeping the time of my book, the pages captivating me, intriguing me to read more and more.
i find that more people are using kindles and nooks now, and i wonder why, as they are missing out on physically turning the pages, their fingers brushing against the soft texture of the words imprinted into the pale sheets, the words coming to life before their eyes.

i love books.
what are some of your favorite books?

I totally know what you mean by this post. And yes, with kindles and iPads, and even iPhones, you'd think that books will become extinct. But they won't. Because, there is a feeling in books, as you said.
ReplyDeleteGreat post.
fully agree with you!
Fantastic photos of one of my favorite books!! :) And I absolutely agree about the Kindles, etc. I love the feel of a real book in my hands; I doubt I'll be switching to the electronic version anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteOther favorite books?
"Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen
"Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott
The Mitford Series by Jan Karon
The Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder
The Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery
"Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte
The Narnia Series by C.S. Lewis
The Harry Potter Series
And that's just a few. I LOVE reading!!
I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday when I was reading a book and looked over to see my mom reading her Nook. Nook's and Kindles are nice, but they just don't measure out to the awesomeness of good ol' book reading. Anyhooo...I totally agree with you!
